Register Your Software onFreeSoftwareX
List your software, SaaS, or tool for free and put it in front of people actively searching for solutions like yours. Every listing goes through a quick manual review before it goes live, so buyers trust what they find.
Why list on FreeSoftwareX
What a listing actually gets you — no inflated claims, no invented numbers.
Discoverable where people search
Your listing shows up in its category page and in on-site search — in front of people already looking for software like yours, not random traffic.
A dashboard to track everything
See every submission's status — pending, approved, or disapproved with the reviewer's note — in one place, and submit more products anytime.
Genuine reviews build trust
Buyers can write real reviews on your listing — no fake ratings or invented download counts, on your product or anyone else's.
A trust-first directory
Every page states no paid rank-boosting and no fake metrics — a visitor who trusts the directory is more likely to trust your listing too.
Built-in SEO for your product page
Each listing gets its own URL, title and description — a page you can link to and that search engines can index on its own.
Optional paid visibility, later
Once you're listed, you can separately book a banner placement for extra visibility — never required, and never a substitute for the free listing.
How registration works
A simple 3-step process to get your software listed on FreeSoftwareX.
Submit your details
Fill in your product name, description, official website, logo and category on the submission form. Every field is optional — fill in what you have.
We review it
A person checks the download link, installs where practical, and confirms the licence terms match the claim — no bots, no auto-approval.
Go live
Once approved, your listing appears in the relevant category and is searchable across FreeSoftwareX. You're emailed either way.
What you'll need before you start
Nothing here is mandatory — the more complete it is, the faster your listing gets approved.
What makes a listing get approved faster
Practical tips from what reviewers actually check first.
A working download link, first
The link is the first thing checked. If it 404s, redirects somewhere unofficial, or needs an account to even test, review stalls right there.
A description that says what it does
"Powerful productivity tool" tells a reviewer nothing. Name the actual feature set and who it's for — specific beats impressive-sounding.
Real screenshots, not stock art
Actual interface screenshots build more trust with reviewers (and buyers) than a generic marketing banner.
The right category, not the broadest one
A specific sub-category gets found by the people actually searching for it; "Other / not listed" rarely does.
A licence type that matches reality
If it's a free tier of a paid product, say so — stating it plainly up front avoids a disapproval for mismatched claims.
A support contact that actually works
An email or helpdesk URL that bounces is one of the guideline checks — an active one clears it immediately.
Submission guidelines
The same rules every listing is checked against — the reason a listing here is worth having.
- The software must be genuinely usable for free — open source, free, a real free tier, or a clearly-stated trial.
- It must be downloadable from your own official website. We never link to mirrors or repackaged installers.
- No bundled adware, toolbars or opt-out extras in the installer.
- No cracked, patched or pirated copies of commercial software.
- It should be actively maintained, with a working support or contact route.
Registration FAQ
Quick answers to common questions.
No — the submission form works without logging in. If you do log in first, the listing is automatically linked to your account so it shows up in your Vendor Dashboard.
There's no fixed time, but a person typically checks the download link and licence claim before approving. You'll get an email once it's approved and live.
Yes — tell us what's wrong and we'll treat it as a priority fix, free of charge.
No. Organic listings are never for sale — paid placements are separate, visibly labelled "Sponsored", and never affect where your free listing appears.
